رَغبتI turned away عَنfrom الدُنياthis world وَزخرفand the finery of أَهلهاits people
رَغبت عَن الدُنيا وَزخرف أَهلها
وَقُلتand I said لِنَفسيto myself إِنَّماonly العَيشlife فيin الأُخرىthe hereafter
وَقُلت لِنَفسي إِنَّما العَيش في الأُخرى
I turned away from the world and the splendor of its people,
I turned away from this world and its people's finery,
And told myself: “Life is only in the Hereafter.”
And I said to myself: life is only in the hereafter.
فَدَعنيso leave me وَزُهديand my renunciation فيof الحُطامworldly goods فَإِنَّنيfor I
فَدَعني وَزُهدي في الحُطام فَإِنَّني
أَرىI see الزُهدrenunciation فيof الدُنياthis world هُوَit is الراحةrest الكُبرىthe greatest
أَرى الزُهد في الدُنيا هُوَ الراحة الكُبرى
So leave me to my renunciation of worldly debris, for I
So leave me to my renunciation of worldly goods, for I
See that renouncing the world is the greatest repose.
See that renouncing this world is the greatest rest.
