A tiresome man complained to us of the weight of sins.
He complained of the heaviness of sins upon us, so burdensome
So I said to him: Listen to my ingenious words.
I said to him, listen to my eloquent saying
ثَلاثthree things بِالتَناسبin correspondence فيكَin you خُصَّتwere singled out
ثَلاث بِالتَناسب فيكَ خُصَّت
فَلَمso not توجدwere found بِغَيركin anyone other than you مِنany مَثيلِcounterpart
فَلَم توجد بِغَيرك مِن مَثيلِ
Three matching things are peculiar to you,
Three things are proportionate within you
So no counterpart was found in anyone else:
And cannot be found in any other the like
ذُنوبكyour sins مِثلlike روحكyour soul ضمنwithin جسمٍa body
ذُنوبك مِثل روحك ضمن جسمٍ
ثَقيلٌheavy فيwithin ثَقيلٍheavy فيwithin ثَقيلِheavy
ثَقيلٌ في ثَقيلٍ في ثَقيلِ
Your sins, like your soul, within a body—
Your sins are like your soul within a body
Heavy within heavy within heavy.
Heavy upon heavy upon heavy
