كَثَوبِ رياً أَنّى تَردّى بِهِ شَفّا
Ah, my friend, leave whoever regards friendship as a burden,
Leave my friend alone, you who see friendship as a burden,
Like a robe of pretense: however he wraps himself in it, it is transparent.
Like a cloak worn thin wherever rubbed.
لإنeven if قلّare few مَنthose who يَرعىhonor مِنof الودِّfriendship حرمةًsanctity
لإن قلّ مَن يَرعى مِن الودِّ حرمةً
فَحَسبكthen enough for you إِبراهيمIbrahim فَهوfor he الَّذيthe one who وَفّىkept faith
فَحَسبك إِبراهيم فَهو الَّذي وَفّى
Even if few honor the sanctity of friendship,
For few care for preserving friendship's sanctity.
Then Ibrahim suffices you, for he is the one who has kept faith.
So cease, Ibrahim - he fulfilled his pledge.
