ياO مُفرَداًpeerless one كَملتreached perfection مَحاسنthe beauties ذاتهof his being
يا مُفرَداً كَملت مَحاسن ذاته
لُطفاًin grace فَفاقso he surpassed بِهاthrough them عَلىabove أَترابِهِhis peers
لُطفاً فَفاق بِها عَلى أَترابِهِ
O peerless one, whose own beauties reached perfection
O singular one whose virtues perfect his essence
in grace, so that through them he surpassed his peers.
With gentleness he excels his peers
البدرthe full moon أَنتَyou فَإِنso if يَكُنit should be لَكَto you مشبهاًresembling
البدر أَنتَ فَإِن يَكُن لَكَ مشبهاً
فَمنthen among العَجائبthe wonders وَحدةthe uniqueness المُتشابهِof one who has a likeness
فَمن العَجائب وَحدة المُتشابهِ
You are the full moon; if it should resemble you,
You are the full moon for if you have a likeness
then the uniqueness of one who has a likeness is a wonder.
Then it is a wonder that two similar ones exist
