Take from my love, O apple of my eye
And be faithful to an eye's slave, who has seen no flaw in you.
Though no slave's eye has seen of you an eye

and love's summoner, O Hind, is none but the eye.

while my longstanding passion remains like a spring.

in Jilliq—not in Baalbek or al-'Ayn.
Our pact was watered with anxiety towards its fidelity

So why do my eyes not see still an eye
Why does my eye see no one there?

O rider of the sturdy she-camel, cleaving the wastes upon her,
As if its forearms were wings for the eye
as though, to the eye, her forelegs were two wings.

for the gardens there have gazed with an eye.

furrows the earth's surface with tears, like a spring.

whom beauty's spell-reciter protected from the evil eye.

But explaining them is not for the eye
but their explanation belongs to my heart, not to the eye.

its night would be my watcher, and al-Suha my spy.

so her besotted lover's heart becomes like a bull's-eye.

For how many a knot is untied and how many an eye
How many a band reproaches and is reproached—and how many a notable!

whenever you behold her, you wound your own heart with the eye.

By praising the magnificent trusted one of the eye
through praise of Amin al-Dawla, the glorious notable.

with a balance of forbearance in which you see no flaw.

Dirhams with none like them but the eye
as dinars; the others among them are nothing but coin.

how many a dirham has no good in it, and how many a gold coin!

the clouds' narrator has related to us on the eye's authority.

His swords gleam beneath the dust in its defense,
Had he willed, he would have tested the Samhari steeds
like lightning glimpsed flashing through the gaps in a cloud.
Riding them and the eye would have tested the eye

If he wished to test the Samhari spears, he would surmount
He repelled their horses in retreat
their heads with them, and test eye against eye.

O Kaaba of bounty, which is a prayer's focal point,
With your rain, the plant of your superiority is watered

Through your gifts, the planting of your bounty is watered among the people,
Indeed, what the gallant spent in God’s cause one day

in goodness on any day is more fruitful than gold.
Wedding of the singing maidens over jewelry and the eye
