Reason, for all its strength, could not bear

يا وَردة الرَوض الَّتي حَولها
قَدindeed أَنبَتcaused to grow الدَهرtime أَباAbu (father of) مُنتنِMuntin (foul-smelling)
قَد أَنبَت الدَهر أَبا مُنتنِ
O rose of the garden, around which
