You have a dwelling in my heart, and my heart revolves around you.

You have a home in my heart, and my heart revolves around you

And at the sight of you, the people of the circles revolved within the sanctuary.

And they have turned their assemblies in fever towards your mirror

عجباً كيف أشاروا لك أصحاب الأشائر

عجباً كيف أشاروا لك أصحاب الأشائر

مع أنّ الكلّ حاروا أنت في غيبك حاضر

مع أنّ الكلّ حاروا أنت في غيبك حاضر

How wondrous! How did the masters of allusions point to you?

How strangely they gestured to you, people of omens

Though all were bewildered, you are present in your hiddenness.

While all were confused, you in your absence are present

يا جميلاً قد تجلّى بتناويع المجالي

يا جميلاً قد تجلّى بتناويع المجالي

وبعقدٍ قد تحلّى من جلالٍ وجمال

وبعقدٍ قد تحلّى من جلالٍ وجمال

O Beautiful One, who has revealed himself through diverse manifestations,

O beautiful one who has manifested in the meadows of glory

And adorned himself with a necklace of majesty and beauty.

And adorned with a necklace of majesty and beauty

واجبٌ بالذّات جلَّ عن إضافات المحال

واجبٌ بالذّات جلَّ عن إضافات المحال

قادرٌ ولك اقتدارٌ في تصاريف المقادر

قادرٌ ولك اقتدارٌ في تصاريف المقادر

Necessarily existent in essence, exalted beyond attributions of the impossible.

The Essence, glorified beyond descriptive attributes

Powerful are you, and yours is power over the workings of destiny.

Powerful, and you have power in the cycles of destinies

باطنٌ أنت وظاهر في ظهورٍ وبطون

باطنٌ أنت وظاهر في ظهورٍ وبطون

أوّل أنت وآخر في على دور الشؤون

أوّل أنت وآخر في على دور الشؤون

Hidden are you and manifest, in manifestation and concealment.

You are the inward and the outward in manifestations and esoteric meanings

You are first and last in the heights of the cycle of affairs.

The First, you are the Last in the cycles of affairs

ظهرت فيك المظاهر تتراءى للعيون

ظهرت فيك المظاهر تتراءى للعيون

لك منك الكلّ صاروا مثلاً في الكون سائر

لك منك الكلّ صاروا مثلاً في الكون سائر

The manifestations appeared in you, showing themselves to the eyes.

The manifestations have appeared in you, visible to the eyes

For you, from you, all have become a likeness moving through the universe.

For you, from you, all have become examples in existence

حسنك الواحد شمس لاح في جمع تعدّد

حسنك الواحد شمس لاح في جمع تعدّد

لسناه نحن كأس نجتلي معنىً توحّد

لسناه نحن كأس نجتلي معنىً توحّد

Your undivided beauty is a sun that shone in the union of multiplicity.

Your singular beauty is a sun that shone in multiplicity

We are a cup for its radiance, beholding a meaning that has become one.

We are not the glass that contains the meaning of oneness

ولنا بالفرق أنس ولجمع الغيب نشهد

ولنا بالفرق أنس ولجمع الغيب نشهد

وانجلى عنّا الستار فانجلت عنّا المظاهر

وانجلى عنّا الستار فانجلت عنّا المظاهر

And we find intimacy in differentiation, and bear witness to the union of the unseen.

And we are pleased with differences and witnessing the unseen totality

And the veil lifted from us, so the manifestations fell away from us.

And the veil was removed from us, so the manifestations were removed from us

فلذا همنا بسلمى وبليلى وبهندِ

فلذا همنا بسلمى وبليلى وبهندِ

ورباب وبأسما وبحسنا وبدعدِ

ورباب وبأسما وبحسنا وبدعدِ

Thus we were mad with love for Salma, Layla, and Hind,

So we were concerned with Salma, Laila, Hind

And for Rabab, Asma, Hasna, and Da'd.

And Rabab, Asma, Hasna, and Du’du’

كلّها معنى لأسما بصفات الحسن تبدي

كلّها معنى لأسما بصفات الحسن تبدي

هي للوجه خمارٌ وعلى السرّ ستائر

هي للوجه خمارٌ وعلى السرّ ستائر

All of them reveal a meaning of names through the attributes of beauty.

All of them are meanings of the names displaying beauty’s attributes

They are a veil for the face, and curtains over the secret.

It is the veil on the secret and curtains on the face

وسنا هذا التجلّي نور فيض الحقّ طه

وسنا هذا التجلّي نور فيض الحقّ طه

من عليه المتجلّي صلّى في القرب شفاها

من عليه المتجلّي صلّى في القرب شفاها

And the radiance of this manifestation is Taha, the light of the Real's outpouring.

And we will perceive this manifestation as the overflowing light of Truth

Upon whom the Self-Revealing One bestowed blessings by word of mouth in nearness.

Upon whom the manifestation prayed in intimate nearness

هام في مجلاه كلّي وبشوقي صحت آها

هام في مجلاه كلّي وبشوقي صحت آها

وبقلبي منه نارٌ وهو جنّات السرائر

وبقلبي منه نارٌ وهو جنّات السرائر

My whole being was enraptured in his manifestation, and in my longing I cried, 'Ah!'

Raptured in his beauty I sighed deeply

And in my heart is a fire from him, while he is the gardens of inmost secrets.

And my heart has from him a fire, and he is the gardens of secrets
