نبّهتَ قلباً عن شهودك ما لها

نبّهتَ قلباً عن شهودك ما لها

يا ذا اليدين ولم يكن عنكم سها

يا ذا اليدين ولم يكن عنكم سها

You awakened a heart that had never been distracted from beholding you,

You woke a heart that was not ready for your apparition,

O possessor of the two hands, nor had it been heedless of you.

O you of the two hands, though it was not veiled from you.

ورقيت معراج المديح إلى العلى

ورقيت معراج المديح إلى العلى

ووقفت فيه عند سدرة منتهى

ووقفت فيه عند سدرة منتهى

And I climbed the ladder of praise to the heights,

You climbed the ladder of praise to the highest elevation,

And there I stood at the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary.

And stopped at a lote-tree of the utmost destination.
