فاضمحلّت بها ظلمات النفوس
The sun of suns has risen in my sky,
The sun of suns rose in my sky,
And through it the darkness of souls has vanished.
So the darkness of souls faded away.

So sip the cups from my wine jars and my tavern,
So drink from my affection and tenderness the cups,
And meet it as it is unveiled like a bride.
And meet her as she appears like the bride's splendor.

So drink it and carouse, casting off the bridle,
So enjoy her and dance without restraint,
And with wine cast that veil away from yourself.
And remove from yourself with wine that veil.

You will become like al-Shadhili and al-Aydarus.
You will end like Al-Shadhili and Al-Aidarus.

How fortunate is whoever has tasted this wine,
O happy is the one who tasted this wine,
After seeking it like Moses, God's interlocutor,
After its protector like Moses the Kalim,

فهو نورٌ له لا كنار المجوس
When he saw it as a fire in a pitch-dark night;
When he saw it as a fire at night illuminated,
For it is light to him, not like the Magians' fire.
It is a light for him not the Magi's fire.

Friend, if you seek the key to the treasure of insights,
Shout if you threw away the key to the treasure of meanings,
Then erase the lingering traces within your heart,
So erase what is in the consciousness of the remnants of forms,

And shed the remnants of all the sciences;
And remove yourself from the remnants of all knowledge,
For one familiar with union, written pages perish.
For the one who befriended connection, confusion disappears.

And upon his companions, after his noble family,
And upon his companions and family of nobles,
As long as suns bow to one smitten with love.
As long as the lover of love lowers the sun.
