1. أضحت كؤس مدامتي

    في حانٍ حيّ صافيه

    The cups of my wine have become

    clear in a lively tavern.

  2. وحباب نجم صبابتي

    في الكاس ليست خافيه

    And the bubbles of my longing's star

    are not hidden in the cup.

  3. وبشرب خمرة حانتي

    أركان سقمي عافيه

    And through drinking my tavern's wine,

    the pillars of my sickness have faded away.

  4. والحمد ساقي راحتي

    في الحان وهي الشافيه

    And praise is the cupbearer of my repose

    in the tavern, and it is the healer.

  5. فشهدت عين جلالتي

    ثبتت بلاء النافيه

    So I beheld the essence of my majesty,

    affirmed through the negating 'no'.

  6. إذ سرّ عين حشاشتي

    في الذكر ليست غافيه

    For the secret of my soul's essence

    is not asleep in remembrance.

  7. إنّي وشمس إمامتي

    طلعت بليل صافيه

    Indeed, I and the sun of my leadership

    rose clear in the night.

  8. لاحت بنور صقالتي

    في عين شربي طافيه

    It shone with the light of my burnishing,

    floating in the essence of my drinking.

  9. إن تنفِ ثبت مقالتي

    أهل القلوب الجافيه

    If the proof of my words is denied

    by people with unfeeling hearts,

  10. فالعذر حجب جهالتي

    عنهم ومنهم كافيه

    the excuse, then, is that the veils of my ignorance

    about them, and those from them, suffice.

  11. لو يشعرون بحالتي

    لقفوا بنظم القافيه

    If they were aware of my state,

    they would follow in composing the rhyme.
