واجل في الأقداح ألطف المشروب

Revive the souls, O beloved.

Refresh the spirits, O beloved one,

And unveil in the goblets the most delicate drink.

And pour gently in the cups the finest drink.

إنّ شرب الراح منتهى المطلوب

إنّ شرب الراح منتهى المطلوب

يا ناديمي وافي بالمدام الصافي

يا ناديمي وافي بالمدام الصافي

Indeed, drinking wine is the ultimate object of desire.

To drink liquor is the utmost desire,

O my drinking companion, come with the pure wine.

My boon companions, bring the pure wine.

إنّ سعدي لاح

إنّ سعدي لاح

من سنا البكري

من سنا البكري

Indeed, my good fortune has shone forth

For Saadi is revealed,

From al-Bakri’s radiance.

In the prime of youth,

أيّها العشّاق بالصبا النجدي

أيّها العشّاق بالصبا النجدي

وقتنا قد راق للصفا يجدي

وقتنا قد راق للصفا يجدي

O lovers, with the east wind of Najd,

O lovers in the Najdi youthfulness!

Our time has grown pleasant and fosters purity.

Our time has inclined towards purity.

فاشهد الإطلاق لاح في القيد

فاشهد الإطلاق لاح في القيد

يا مريد القرب من مغاني الحبّ

يا مريد القرب من مغاني الحبّ

So behold freedom shining forth within the fetter.

So witness the detachment, revealed in bondage.

O seeker of nearness to love’s abodes,

O seeker of nearness, from the melodies of love,

قد بدا الإصباح

قد بدا الإصباح

من ورا الستر

من ورا الستر

Daybreak has appeared

The dawn has emerged,

From behind the veil.

From behind the veil.

مل لحان الحيّ إن تجلّى الحي

مل لحان الحيّ إن تجلّى الحي

واطو شوقك طي في روابي طي

واطو شوقك طي في روابي طي

Turn to the encampment’s tavern if the Living One reveals Himself.

The gatherings of the living have ignited, if the living one manifests,

And fold your longing tightly in the hills of Tayy.

And fold your passion, folded, in the meadows folded,

وبمجلى مي كن لديه مي

وبمجلى مي كن لديه مي

في هواها افنَ في الحسن ثمّ معنى

في هواها افنَ في الحسن ثمّ معنى

And where Mayy is unveiled, be Mayy there.

And in the assembly of wine, be for it wine,

In love for her, lose yourself in beauty, then in meaning.

In its love lose yourself, then meaning in beauty.

وجهها الوضّاح

مخجل البدر

مخجل البدر

Her radiant face

Its shining face,

Puts the full moon to shame.

Blushing like the moon.

فاز من قد ذاق كأسها الصافي

فاز من قد ذاق كأسها الصافي

والتجلّي راق نوره الضافي

والتجلّي راق نوره الضافي

He who has tasted her pure cup has triumphed.

So he has won, who has tasted its pure goblet,

And the manifestation’s abundant light has grown lovely.

And its manifestation has shone, its illuminating light,

وهو بالإشراق للجفا نافي

وهو بالإشراق للجفا نافي

أفق العين الأغيار واقْفُ زيد الأخبار

أفق العين الأغيار واقْفُ زيد الأخبار

And through its radiance it dispels estrangement.

And with its rising, negating the strangers.

Awake [unclear wording: ‘the eye, others’], and follow Zayd of the tidings.

The horizons of the eyes, stop increasing the news,

من له التمداح

جاء في الذكر

جاء في الذكر

He whose praise

For the one who has praise,

Has appeared in the Remembrance.

Came in the mention.

سيّد الأبرار رحمة الخلق

سيّد الأبرار رحمة الخلق

معدن الأسرار نعمة الحقّ

معدن الأسرار نعمة الحقّ

Master of the righteous, mercy to creation,

Master of the righteous, mercy to creation,

Mine of mysteries, blessing of the Truth,

Mine of secrets, blessing of truth,

مرشد المحتار منهج الصدق

مرشد المحتار منهج الصدق

فعليه والآل ثمّ صحبٍ أبطال

فعليه والآل ثمّ صحبٍ أبطال

Guide of the bewildered, the path of truthfulness.

Guide of the lost, path of sincerity,

So upon him and his family, then his heroic companions,

Upon him and progeny, then companions of heroes.

Send blessings, O Opener,

Bless, O Opener,

For all time.
