ياO منyou who تعرّضexposed yourself للبلاto calamity وبهand through it هوىfell
يا من تعرّض للبلا وبه هوى
ونوىand intended الردىruin فيناagainst us فمالso swayed بهhim الهوىdesire
ونوى الردى فينا فمال به الهوى
O you who courted calamity and fell because of it,
O you who attacked misfortune and for it passion felt
And intended our ruin, then desire led you astray,
And intended harm for us, so passion for it you dealt
قمrise وارتقبand await سهمarrow المنيّةdeath والنوىand separation
قم وارتقب سهم المنيّة والنوى
إنّاindeed we بنوsons of بازhawk الرجالmen فمنso whoever نوىintends
إنّا بنو باز الرجال فمن نوى
Rise and await the arrow of death and separation.
Rise and await the arrow of death and evil intent
Indeed, we are sons of the Hawk of Men; whoever intends
We are the clan of Baz, heroes when evil is meant
سوءًharm بناagainst us يُرمَىis shot بسهمwith an arrow نبالهhis arrows
سوءً بنا يُرمَى بسهم نباله
سلطانsultan كلّall الأولياthe saints قطبspiritual pole الورىhumankind
سلطان كلّ الأوليا قطب الورى
Harm against us is struck by one of his arrows.
He who wishes us ill, by his arrow will be repelled
Sultan of all saints, the spiritual pole of humankind,
Sultan of all saints, pole of the cosmos
حصنٌa fortress حصينٌimpregnable فيin الحمىthe sanctuary ساميlofty الذرىthe summits
حصنٌ حصينٌ في الحمى سامي الذرى
منwho ذاthis one الّذيthat يسطوassails علىupon ليثa lion الشرىal-Sharā
من ذا الّذي يسطو على ليث الشرى
An impregnable fortress in the sanctuary, with lofty summits.
A fortress, fortified, lofty in renown
Who is it that assails the lion of al-Sharā?
Who can overwhelm the lion of battle?
عارٌa disgrace علىfor الأسدthe lion الغضنفرthe mighty lion أنto يرىsee
عارٌ على الأسد الغضنفر أن يرى
كلبdog الفلاةthe desert يصولrampages فيamong إشبالهhis cubs
كلب الفلاة يصول في إشباله
It is a disgrace for the mighty lion to see
Shame unto the fierce lion, should he let
The desert dog rampaging among his cubs.
The feral dog rage with impunity
