ياO مريدseeker الحانthe tavern إنindeed شربيmy drinking حانhas come due
يا مريد الحان إن شربي حان
فاسمعso listen الألحانthe melodies واشدُand sing بالأشجانwith sorrows
فاسمع الألحان واشدُ بالأشجان
O seeker of the tavern, my time to drink has come.
O seeker of melodies, it is time for my drinking
So hear the melodies, and sing with sorrow.
So listen to the tunes and sing with passion
نغمةa melody الأوتارthe strings فيin دجىdarkness الأسحارthe predawn hours
نغمة الأوتار في دجى الأسحار
حضرةgathering الأذكارthe invocations منيةcherished desire الولهانthe lovesick lover
حضرة الأذكار منية الولهان
A melody of strings in the darkness before dawn;
The melody of the strings in the darkness of dawn
The gathering of remembrance is the lovesick lover's desire.
Is the presence of invocations, desire of the enraptured
أيّهاO السيّارthe wayfarer فيin رضاfavor الغفّارthe All-Forgiving One
أيّها السيّار في رضا الغفّار
فاطرحso cast aside الأغيارall that is other واخلعand cast off الأكوانthe worlds
فاطرح الأغيار واخلع الأكوان
O wayfarer seeking the All-Forgiving One's favor,
O wanderer in the pleasure of the Forgiving One
So cast aside all that is other, and cast off the worlds.
So cast off burdens and shed the worlds
واشدand sing بالذكرwith remembrance كارعاًquaffing بكريmy virgin wine
واشد بالذكر كارعاً بكري
منهلspring البكريal-Bakri موردwatering place الظمآنthe thirsty one
منهل البكري مورد الظمآن
And sing in remembrance, quaffing my virgin wine;
And remember fervently, like an expert cupbearer
Al-Bakri's spring is the thirsty one's watering place.
The cupbearer's spring, watering place of the thirsty
فانتهجso follow ياO صاحfriend نهجهhis path الفيّاحthe fragrant
فانتهج يا صاح نهجه الفيّاح
إنindeed ذاthis المفتاحthe key حضرةpresence الإحسانspiritual excellence
إن ذا المفتاح حضرة الإحسان
So follow, O friend, his fragrant path.
So follow, O companion, the path of the Illuminator
Indeed, this is the key to the presence of spiritual excellence.
For this key is the presence of benevolence
كمhow many لهhe has أورادlitanies تكسبgain الإمدادspiritual aid
كم له أوراد تكسب الإمداد
هكذاthus الإرشادguidance فيضهits overflowing bounty الهتّانsteadily pouring
هكذا الإرشاد فيضه الهتّان
How many litanies he has that bring spiritual aid!
How many litanies bring increase in support
Such is guidance, its bounty a steady downpour.
Such is guidance, its outpouring ecstatic
حبّذاhow fine الساريthe night traveler جنحdarkness أسحارِpredawn hours
حبّذا الساري جنح أسحارِ
فيin رضاfavor الباريthe Creator منto حماهHis sanctuary دانdrawing near
في رضا الباري من حماه دان
How fine the night traveler in the darkness before dawn,
Blessed is the one who flies on the wings of dawn
Seeking the Creator's favor, drawing near to His sanctuary.
In the pleasure of the Creator, one who humbles himself
صلّsend blessings ياO غفّارAll-Forgiving One فيthroughout مدىthe span الأدوارthe cycles
صلّ يا غفّار في مدى الأدوار
للنبيّupon the Prophet المختارthe chosen مدّةfor the duration الأزمانof the ages
للنبيّ المختار مدّة الأزمان
Send blessings, O All-Forgiving One, throughout the cycles of time,
O Forgiving One, bless for the duration of cycles
Upon the chosen Prophet, for as long as the ages endure.
The chosen Prophet, for as long as time remains
