Lines of perfection traced by the pen of splendor

Lines of perfection written by the pen of glory

upon the page of a face that has shone with charms.

On a page, the face adorned with beauty

حروفٌ لمعنى الحسن جاءت ونظمها

حروفٌ لمعنى الحسن جاءت ونظمها

به نحو إعراب الوقار قد انتهى

به نحو إعراب الوقار قد انتهى

Letters came to convey beauty’s meaning, and their arrangement

Letters conveying the meaning of beauty have come and composed it

upon it has culminated in the expression of dignity.

In the mode of dignity's eloquence it has ended

كروضة كافورٍ ذكا نبت طيبها

كروضة كافورٍ ذكا نبت طيبها

بمسك عذارٍ فاح منه شذا النهى

بمسك عذارٍ فاح منه شذا النهى

Like a camphor garden, its fragrant growth became redolent

Like a meadow of camphor where its sweet plants have grown

with the musk of cheek-down, from which wafted wisdom’s scent.

With pure musk whose wafted scent delights

فزدت به يا أحمد الذات بهجةً

فزدت به يا أحمد الذات بهجةً

لمرقى المعالي فيك سدرة منتهى

لمرقى المعالي فيك سدرة منتهى

Through it you grew more radiant, O Ahmad, most praiseworthy in essence.

With it O Ahmed you have increased the essence of joy

For the ascent to lofty honors, within you stands a lote tree of the utmost limit.

To the ascent of glory within you, a Sidrat of utmost end

Your cheek-down called out; the beauty of its chronogram shone:

Your pure musk has called, the beauty of its date has shone brightly
