As the names of your beauty's attributes overflowed
زمزمتmurmured بالمقامin the station والحالand the state شوقاًin longing
زمزمت بالمقام والحال شوقاً
لتجلّيfor the manifestation of جمالbeauty أسماnames (poetically shortened) سماتكyour traits
لتجلّي جمال أسما سماتك
They murmured in station and state, with longing
At the station and state, longing
For the manifestation of the beauty of the names of your traits:

نفحاتٌbreezes كواكبٌstars وهباتٌand gifts

بِ الشهودي كي تَجتني ثمراتك
In the unseen, shake the utmost reach of the lote-tree of the gift
It shook at the unseen the Lote Tree of the Limit
Of witnessing, so that you may gather your fruits.
With my witnessing so that it bears me your fruits

ثمّ وحّد على المثانيَ آلا

تِ وجودِ الآلاء في آلاتك
Then, upon the oft-repeated verses, unify the instruments
Then combine upon the scales
Of the bounties' existence within your instruments.
The tools of the favors in your tools
وتجرّدand divest yourself وسرand journey لسلماكto your Salma واجعلand make
وتجرّد وسر لسلماك واجعل
مطرباتِenrapturing chants الأورادthe litanies بعضَsome of حداتكyour camel-drivers
مطرباتِ الأوراد بعضَ حداتك
And divest yourself, journey to your Salma, and make
And detach, and climb your ladder, and make
The enrapturing chants of the litanies some of your camel-drivers.
The singers of invocations some of your limits
وتطهّرand purify yourself بماءwith the water of قدسكyour holiness منfrom نفself (fragment)
وتطهّر بماء قدسك من نف
سكyour self (word completion) واحرِمand enter consecration بالحجّin pilgrimage عنfrom شهواتكyour desires
سك واحرِم بالحجّ عن شهواتك
And cleanse yourself of your self with the water of your holiness,
And purify yourself with the water of your holiness
And enter pilgrimage's consecration, renouncing your desires.
From your soul, and deprive with pilgrimage from your desires
غبbe absent عنfrom الغيبthe unseen فيin شهودٍwitnessing وطبand rejoice فيin الthe
غب عن الغيب في شهودٍ وطب في ال
وردlitany وجداًin ecstasy ومتand die بعينin the very essence of حياتكyour life
ورد وجداً ومت بعين حياتك
Be absent from the unseen in witnessing, and rejoice in the
Be absent from the unseen in witnessing, and be healthy in the
Litany in ecstasy, and die in the very essence of your life.
Rose and passionate, and die with the eye of your life
وبماand with what بالتلقينthrough instruction قدalready كانwas فاذكرthen make remembrance
وبما بالتلقين قد كان فاذكر
وبهوand with 'He' هوHe اذكرmake remembrance ودعand leave غفلاتكyour heedless lapses
وبهو هو اذكر ودع غفلاتك
And practice remembrance with what was imparted through instruction;
And with what was through dictation, so remember
And chant 'He, He' in remembrance, and abandon your heedless lapses.
And with He-He remember and leave your negligence
وتواخand seek اقتباسdrawing أنوارlights مصباlamp (fragment)
وتواخ اقتباس أنوار مصبا
حcompletion of 'lamp' الشهودthe witnessing الغيبيّof the unseen منfrom مشكاتكyour lamp-niche
ح الشهود الغيبيّ من مشكاتك
And seek to draw the lights of the lamp
And draw the absorption of the lights
Of unseen witnessing from your niche.
Of the unseen witnessing from your lanterns
واجبٌnecessary منكfrom you داعياًcalling لكto you داعٍa caller
واجبٌ منك داعياً لك داعٍ
دعabandon دواعيmotives for الدعوىpretension وعدand return لدُعاتكto your callers
دع دواعي الدعوى وعد لدُعاتك
A caller from within you, calling to you, is necessary;
An obligation from you calling you a caller
Abandon the motives of pretension, and return to your callers.
Leave the motives of claims and promise your supplicants
تنجليwill clear away ظلمةdarkness الطبيعةnature عمّاfrom what
تنجلي ظلمة الطبيعة عمّا
فيin دياجيnight-darkness الحروفthe letters منfrom كلماتكyour words

The darkness of nature will lift from what lies
The darkness of nature clears up
In the night-darkness of the letters of your words.
