السيّد البكريّ تاج المحبّينا

Hasten to the virgin wine from our cupbearer’s hand—

Hasten to the early wine from the hand of our cupbearer

The master al-Bakri, the crown of lovers.

The master of the early wine, crown of our beloved

فيا لها خمرهْ تُجلَى إلى الحضرهْ

فيا لها خمرهْ تُجلَى إلى الحضرهْ

فانفِ بها الكدرهْ واشرب وعاطينا

فانفِ بها الكدرهْ واشرب وعاطينا

Ah, what a wine, unveiled unto the Presence!

Oh, his wine reveals clarity to the presence

So banish gloom with it, drink, and pass us the cup.

With it dispel gloom and drink and give us some

فيها رأى عيسى نوراً وتقدّيسا

فيها رأى عيسى نوراً وتقدّيسا

كما رأى موسى في طور سينينا

كما رأى موسى في طور سينينا

In it Jesus saw light and sanctification,

In it Jesus saw light and sanctity

Just as Moses saw on Mount Sinai.

As Moses saw on Mount Sinai

فأفرغ الأكياس ونادم الأكياس

فأفرغ الأكياس ونادم الأكياس

واجعل ختام الكاس صلاة هادينا

واجعل ختام الكاس صلاة هادينا

So empty the purses and drink with the wise,

So pour the wineskins and make the wineskins your boon companions

And make the cup’s ending a blessing upon our guide.

And make the seal upon the goblet a prayer guiding us
