لا أرى في ذاك شكّا

For me, God is my refuge;

موقناً أن لا سواهُ

كاشفٌ ضرّاً وضنكا

كاشفٌ ضرّاً وضنكا

Certain that none but He

Certain that none but Him

Dispels affliction and hardship,

Relieves adversity and distress.

راجياً منه نوالاً

راجياً منه نوالاً

ورشاداً ليس يُحكَى

ورشاداً ليس يُحكَى

Hoping for bounty from Him

Hoping for bounty from Him

And guidance beyond description.

And guidance beyond description,

لم أزل لله عبداً

لم أزل لله عبداً

وبهذا أتزكّى

وبهذا أتزكّى

I have always been a servant of God,

I have always been God's servant,

And through this I purify myself.

And in this I seek purity.

ربّ وفّقني لرشدٍ

ربّ وفّقني لرشدٍ

ثمّ هب لي منك ملكا

ثمّ هب لي منك ملكا

Lord, guide me to the right course,

Lord, guide me to righteousness,

Then grant me dominion from You.

Then grant me a kingdom from You,

واحمني من كلّ سوءٍ

واحمني من كلّ سوءٍ

وقِني شرّاً وشركا

وقِني شرّاً وشركا

And protect me from every harm,

And protect me from all evil,

And shield me from evil and polytheism.

And save me from evil and partners.

واصرف الأعداء عنّي

واصرف الأعداء عنّي

وامحُهم هتكاً وفتكا

وامحُهم هتكاً وفتكا

And turn the enemies away from me,

Turn the enemies away from me,

And wipe them out with rending and slaughter.

And destroy them, fallen and ruined.

واغفر الذنب بلطفٍ

واغفر الذنب بلطفٍ

وافكُكِ الأكدار فكّا

وافكُكِ الأكدار فكّا

And forgive my sin with kindness,

Forgive sins with kindness,

And dispel sorrows completely.

And undo fetters and free them.

وأنلني كلّ فضلٍ

وأنلني كلّ فضلٍ

من ضياء الشمس أذكى

من ضياء الشمس أذكى

And grant me every bounty

Grant me every grace

Brighter than the sun's radiance.

Brighter than the sun's light,

وأذقني يا إلهي

وأذقني يا إلهي

لذّة القرب المزكّى

لذّة القرب المزكّى

And let me taste, O my God,

And let me taste, my God,

The delight of purified nearness,

The bliss of the hallowed closeness,

في رياض الأمن ممّا

في رياض الأمن ممّا

اختشى فعلاً وتركا

اختشى فعلاً وتركا

In gardens of safety from what

In the gardens of security from

I fear, in doing and leaving undone.

What I fear in deed and avoidance.

إنّ ألطاف إلهي

إنّ ألطاف إلهي

ليَ قالت خلّ عنكا

ليَ قالت خلّ عنكا

Indeed, my God's gracious favors

Indeed my Lord's favors

Have said to me: 'Let it go;

Have told me: leave anxiety behind,

لا تدبّر لك أمراً

لا تدبّر لك أمراً

نحن أولى بك منكا

نحن أولى بك منكا

Do not plan any affair for yourself;

Do not consider any matter yours,

We have greater claim on you than you yourself.

We are more entitled to you than you.

فاترك التدبير تنجو

فاترك التدبير تنجو

فأولو التدبير هلكى

فأولو التدبير هلكى

So abandon planning, and you will be saved,

So leave consideration and be saved,

For those who plan are doomed.'

For those who consider have perished.
