Be gracious—may I be your ransom, O full moon.

    Suppose I saw you in a dream-vision.

O beloved, if only you would show the kindness I seek.

And do not heed the reproach of those who blame me.

O beloved, I have had enough of this estrangement.

You who wounded my heart, heal the wounds.

O moon, if only you would honor the pledge.

Soothe and gladden my heart with a greeting.

Your mouth is sweeter than a cup of wine.

    It surpasses pearls—a sealed pearl.

O bough of a bān tree, upon which has appeared

The moon of nearness, and the blossoms are stars.

O Lord, bestow blessings together with peace

Upon the manifestation of the Abode of Peace,

And all the family, worthy of honor,

With the companions of virtue, clouds of bounty,

As long as the lovelorn one sings among drinking companions,

Since the cupbearer opened the sealed cup.
