Sol 6.1

  1. حبيب القلب أضحى فيه حاضرْ

    وعيني عينه واللحظ ناظرْ

    The heart's beloved is now present within it;

    and my eye is his eye, and the gaze beholds.

  2. ينادمني بغيب القلب منّي

    بباطنه ولي بالقرب ظاهر

    He communes with me in my heart's unseen depths,

    through his inward self, and he is manifest to me in nearness.

  3. بمرآتي أراه إذ يراني

    أسامره بما أمسى يسامر

    In my mirror I see him as he sees me;

    I converse with him by night about what he spent the evening discussing.

  4. إذا كنّا كذلك باقترابٍ

    فلم نحتج لكتبٍ أو دفاتر

    When we are thus close together,

    then we have no need of letters or notebooks.

  5. فتلك رسائل النائي ببعدٍ

    وعنها في غنىً من كلّ حاضر

    For those are letters from one far away,

    and anyone present has no need of them.

  6. عليك سلام قلبي فاح طيباً

    بنفحٍ فاق أنفاس العواطر

    Upon you be my heart's greeting, wafting fragrance,

    with a waft surpassing the breaths of fragrant things.

  7. ومنك إليك أدعية بقلبٍ

    لكم في غيبه أبداً مناظر

    And from you to you are prayers within a heart

    forever gazing toward you in its unseen depths.

  8. وما لي من نصير غير حبّي

    محمّد من غدا لي خير ناصر

    And I have no helper but my beloved,

    Muhammad, who has become my best supporter.

  9. وأرجو الله تحقيق الأماني

    بما ترجوه من جبر الخواطر

    And I ask God for the fulfillment of wishes,

    through the solace for hearts that you hope for.

  10. وما أرسلت من قفصٍ أتاني

    وقلبي فيه وجداً بات طائر

    And the cage you sent has reached me,

    and my heart, in ecstasy, became a bird within it,

  11. يرنّم بالغنا شوقاً إليكم

    ويصدح فيكم بالحمد شاكر

    trilling its song in longing for you,

    and gratefully singing aloud in your praise.

  12. وحمد الكلّ منكم حمد ربّي

    تعالى أوّلٌ وكذاك آخر

    And praise of all of you is praise of my Lord,

    exalted is He, the First and likewise the Last.
