The sheikh of Atlit has always been fortunate (Mas‘ud),
An aging sheikh, though frail, is ever blessed
as his name implies; for his overflowing generosity,
As is his name, abiding in life’s dew -

he is sought for gifts. Had his resolve not been a sword
Were it not for his staunch and steadfast will,
in keenness, they would not have dubbed him Madi.
None would call him ‘the one who has passed.’
