ومنand who يعذلblames الظمآنthe thirsty one إنif عادhe returns لليمِّto the sea
ومن يعذل الظمآن إن عاد لليمِّ
If I return, it is nothing strange, for I am thirst's brother.
If I return, though uninvited, I'm akin to thirst
And who would blame the thirsty one if he returned to the sea?
And who would blame the thirsty should he return to drink?

شهادته في حضرة العين والعلم
And if I am absent, your unseen essence suffices me; I behold
If I'm absent, your gaze that haunts me is enough -
Its manifestation in the realm of sight and knowledge.
Its testimony present before my eyes and mind.

تحكَّم بالتصريف بالروح والجسم
And love for you decrees my return, for it
Your love decrees my return - it holds sway
Has taken command, directing spirit and body.
O'er spirit and flesh through each twist and turn of fate.

And if I am a full moon, the full moons borrow their light
If I'm the full moon, moons borrow all their light
From the sun; their light appears in the gloom of night.
From the sun - its radiance pierces through the gloom of night.

And my return is a feast, and all the more praiseworthy—how could it not be,
My return is a celebration - and he is the most praised.
When from it I have a richly allotted share of joy?
Through his grace I've a share of joy and bounty.
