عريضabundant الرضاfavor ينهلpours down منfrom مُزُنِrain clouds الإحياrevival
عريض الرضا ينهل من مُزُنِ الإحيا
عنfrom الحيّthe Ever-Living منfrom فيضthe outpouring الفتوحاتspiritual openings والإحياand revival
عن الحيّ من فيض الفتوحات والإحيا
Abundant favor pours from the clouds of revival,
The generous of consent draws from springs of vitality
from the Ever-Living, from the outpouring of spiritual openings and revival,
From the Living, of the outpouring of openings and vitalities
علىupon ميّتٍa dead man يحيىrevives إذاwhen غيثهاtheir rain همَىpoured down
على ميّتٍ يحيى إذا غيثها همَى
صباحاًin the morning علىupon رمسٍa tomb بهin it ذوpossessor of الحياmodesty يحيىYahya
صباحاً على رمسٍ به ذو الحيا يحيى
upon a dead man who revives when their rain pours down,
Upon a dead one he gives life when his cloud pours down
in the morning, upon a tomb where Yahya, the modest one, lies.
In the morning upon a imprint wherein the Vital One gives life
هوhe السيّدthe master الساميrising above الأنامhumankind طريقةًin spiritual path
هو السيّد السامي الأنام طريقةً
بهاalong it لشهودto behold الحقّthe Truth يمشيhe walks علىwith استحياmodesty
بها لشهود الحقّ يمشي على استحيا
He is the master, exalted above humankind in his spiritual path;
He is the Exalted Master, the people's path
along it he walks in modesty to behold the Truth.
By which the witnesses of Truth walk with vitality
هوhe السيّدthe master العاليexalted الصحيحsound روايةًin transmission
هو السيّد العالي الصحيح روايةً
عنfrom الكاملthe perfected one البكريّal-Bakri أسنىmost radiant الورىhumankind محياin countenance
عن الكامل البكريّ أسنى الورى محيا
He is the exalted master, sound in his transmission
He is the Exalted Master, correct in narration
from the perfected al-Bakri, most radiant in countenance among humankind.
From the Perfect Original, finest of creatures alive
عليهof him الكرامthe noble ones الغرّthe illustrious تثنيoffer praise لأنّهbecause he
عليه الكرام الغرّ تثني لأنّه
لداعيto the caller of الهدىguidance وحياًswiftly أجابhe answered الندىthe summons وحياand greeted
لداعي الهدى وحياً أجاب الندى وحيا
The noble and illustrious praise him, because he
Upon him the honored strangeness that praises him
swiftly answered the summons of guidance’s herald and greeted him.
For the caller to guidance alive, he answered the dew alive
وقدand indeed كانhe was عنfrom قشرthe husk السوىall besides God متجرّداًdivested
وقد كان عن قشر السوى متجرّداً
وبالذكرand with remembrance والأورادand litanies كمhow many ليلةa night أحياhe brought to life
وبالذكر والأوراد كم ليلة أحيا
And he had shed the husk of all besides God;
And he had been stripped of superficial equality
and how many nights he brought to life with remembrance and litanies!
And by dhikr and litanies how many a night enlived
أعدّhe prepared لهfor him الفردوسَParadise مولاهhis Lord منزلاًas a dwelling
أعدّ له الفردوسَ مولاه منزلاً
وعدّand counted شهيدthe martyr الحبّlove فيهin it معamong الأَحياthe living
وعدّ شهيد الحبّ فيه مع الأَحيا
His Lord prepared Paradise for him as a dwelling,
His Master prepared Paradise for him as a dwelling
and counted love’s martyr there among the living.
And counted the martyr of love among the living
وفيand in الحضرةthe divine Presence الزلفىnearness تبوّأhe settled جنّةًa garden
وفي الحضرة الزلفى تبوّأ جنّةً
وتاريخهand his chronogram الناميflourishing برضوانهاthrough its favor يحياhe lives
وتاريخه النامي برضوانها يحيا
And in the intimate divine Presence, he settled in a garden;
And in the Near Presence he took a garden
and his flourishing chronogram reads: “Through its favor he lives.”
And his growing history by its pleasure lives
