When the night of those keeping vigil grows sweet,

then rise and rouse yourself to knock at the door.

وغب في الله عن أسباب

وغب في الله عن أسباب

وناد بعد رفع حجاب

وناد بعد رفع حجاب

And lose yourself in God, beyond all causes,

and call out after a veil is lifted:

أيا وهّاب أيا وهّاب

أيا وهّاب أيا وهّاب

أفض من فيضك المنساب

أفض من فيضك المنساب

O Bestower, O Bestower!

Pour forth from Your flowing bounty.

وكرّر أكؤس التقريب

وكرّر أكؤس التقريب

سلاف الذوق والتهذيب

سلاف الذوق والتهذيب

And drink again the cups of nearness—

the pure wine of spiritual taste and refinement.

بها تبدو علوم الغيب

بها تبدو علوم الغيب

لنشوانٍ بها قد غاب

لنشوانٍ بها قد غاب

Through it, knowledge of the unseen appears

to one intoxicated by it, already lost to himself.

Pour forth from Your flowing bounty.

وغب واشطح فلا حجب

ولا شكّ ولا ريب

ولا شكّ ولا ريب

And lose yourself and speak in ecstasy—then there are no veils,

nor doubt, nor uncertainty,

ولا بعد ولا قرب

ولا بعد ولا قرب

به كأس التداني طاب

به كأس التداني طاب

nor distance, nor nearness.

Through Him, the cup of drawing near grows sweet.

فبادر أيّها السيّار

فبادر أيّها السيّار

وباكر روضة الأزهار

So hasten, O wayfarer,

and go early to the garden of flowers,

لتقطف زهرة الأسرار

لتقطف زهرة الأسرار

وتنشق نفحة الأطياب

وتنشق نفحة الأطياب

that you may pluck the blossom of secrets

and inhale a waft of sweet fragrances.

ويمّم منهج البكري

And journey with remembrance and spiritual poverty,

and turn toward al-Bakri's path;

ففيه الفتح باليسر

ففيه الفتح باليسر

ومنه تبلغ الآراب

ومنه تبلغ الآراب

for in it, spiritual opening comes with ease,

and through it you attain your desires.

He is the one beheld in remembrance,

lofty in standing and rank—
