سلامٌa greeting كأزهارlike flowers الرياضthe gardens النوافحِfragrant
سلامٌ كأزهار الرياض النوافحِ
يروحgoes forth at evening بروحwith solace الروحthe soul زاكيsweet الروائحِthe fragrances
يروح بروح الروح زاكي الروائحِ
A greeting like the fragrant flowers of gardens,
Greetings like the blossoming flowers of gardens
going forth at evening with solace for the soul, sweetly fragrant.
That exude the aroma of the soul through the soul
تطوفcircle بهwith it الأملاكthe angels فيin كعبةthe Kaaba العلاsublimity
تطوف به الأملاك في كعبة العلا
منfrom الحضرةthe Presence الزلفىintimate بأعلىin the loftiest المسارحthe expanses
من الحضرة الزلفى بأعلى المسارح
The angels circle with it in the Kaaba of sublimity,
Angels revolve around it in the Holy House of Knowledge
from the intimate Presence, in the loftiest expanses.
From the Divine Presence in the Highest Company
ويغدوand comes at morning كماjust as قدalready راحwent at evening مكتسباًgaining سناradiance
ويغدو كما قد راح مكتسباً سنا
قبولٍacceptance يراهsees it كلُّevery غادٍmorning traveler ورائحand evening traveler
قبولٍ يراه كلُّ غادٍ ورائح
And it comes at morning as it went at evening, gaining the radiance
And it becomes as it has gone, gaining glory
of acceptance, which every morning and evening traveler sees.
Acceptance that is seen by all passersby
فإنso if تسألواyou ask عنabout حالتيmy state بعدafter بُعدكمseparation from you
فإن تسألوا عن حالتي بعد بُعدكم
فإنيthen indeed I ببحرin the sea of الشوقlonging أكبرgreatest سابحswimmer
فإني ببحر الشوق أكبر سابح
So if you ask about my state after separation from you,
If you ask about my state after your absence
then I am the greatest swimmer in the sea of longing.
I am in the sea of longing, the greatest swimmer
تركتُI left فؤاديmy heart عندكمwith you وهوand it is جملتيmy whole self
تركتُ فؤادي عندكم وهو جملتي
وسرتand I traveled بجسميwith my body فيin النوىseparation وجوارحيand my limbs
وسرت بجسمي في النوى وجوارحي
I left my heart with you, and it is my whole self,
I left my heart with you all, and that is my whole being
and traveled in separation with my body and my limbs.
And I walked away with my body, senses and limbs
فماso not اخترتُI chose بعديmy distance عنfrom حماكمyour sanctuary بخاطريof my own will
فما اخترتُ بعدي عن حماكم بخاطري
ولكنbut لعذرٍfor a reason فيهthrough it أقضيI attend to مصالحيmy affairs
ولكن لعذرٍ فيه أقضي مصالحي
For I did not choose distance from your sanctuary of my own will,
Yet I did not choose after you all with my thoughts
but for a reason through which I attend to my affairs.
But for an excuse in which I fulfill my interests
عسىmay it be ولعلّand perhaps اللهGod يجمعbring together بينناbetween us
عسى ولعلّ الله يجمع بيننا
وتبدوand appear لديناbefore us غادياتmorning visitations السوانحauspicious omens
وتبدو لدينا غاديات السوانح
May God, I hope, bring us together,
May Allah unite us
and may the morning visitations of good fortune appear before us.
And may fortunate events come our way
