أحببتُ من أضحى عليّاً كاسمه

أحببتُ من أضحى عليّاً كاسمه

فطفقت أنشد والنشيد يلذّ لي

فطفقت أنشد والنشيد يلذّ لي

I loved one who became exalted, true to his name, Ali.

I have loved the one whose name is synonymous with sacrifice

So I began to chant, and the chant delights me.

So I began to recite poetry and found great joy in it

أنا خادم الصدِّيق واسمي في الورى

أنا خادم الصدِّيق واسمي في الورى

عمرٌ ولكنّي أميل إلى علي

عمرٌ ولكنّي أميل إلى علي

I am al-Siddiq’s servant, and my name among humankind

I am the servant of the Truthful one, and my name in this world

Is Umar, yet I incline toward Ali.

Is Omar, but my inclination is towards Ali
