أصاحٍ أنتَ أم سَكرٌ ثميلُ
Ah, Saʿb, may your mother be bereaved of you!
Oh, your foolishness, O difficult to be foolish!
Are you sober, or drunk and besotted?
Are you delirious or drunk and languid?
جمعتَyou gathered مُويْنعاًMuwayniʿ وأباand Abu شُريحِShurayh
جمعتَ مُويْنعاً وأبا شُريحِ

ووافاك السَّوالمُ والنفولُ
You gathered Muwayniʿ and Abu Shurayh,
You have gathered evil and immoral people,
and the Sawalim and the Nuful came to you.
And Al-Sawalim and defects have afflicted you,
وجئتَand you came ليملُكنَّso he may surely rule بهمthrough them عُماناًOman
وجئتَ ليملُكنَّ بهم عُماناً

فرأيكَ والعُلى رأيٌ ضليلُ
And you came so that he would surely rule Oman through them;
And you came to possess Oman through them,
so your plan, by lofty glory, is misguided.
Yet your view and pride is misguided.
