أراك على العِلاّت غيرَ موفّقٍ
وماand how أحسنَfine التوفيقsuccess حيثwherever تكونُyou are
وما أحسنَ التوفيق حيث تكونُ
I see you, despite the difficulties, unsuccessful;
I see you on the heights, unsuccessful,
And how fine success is wherever you are!
Though success becomes you wherever you are.
تريدُyou wish تلافيto remedy الأمرthe matter منfrom بعدafter فوتهِits being missed
تريدُ تلافي الأمر من بعد فوتهِ
ولوand if شئتَyou wished كانwas الصعبthe difficult part منهof it يهونit becomes easy
ولو شئتَ كان الصعب منه يهون
You wish to remedy the matter after it has slipped away;
You want to rectify things when it's too late-
Yet, had you wished, what was hard in it would have become easy.
Had you wished, even the difficult would be easy.
كبلهاءlike a foolish woman قومٍof a community حينwhen بلّتshe wetted طحينهاher flour
كبلهاء قومٍ حين بلّت طحينها
بدتshe appeared تنخلshe sifts المبلولthe wetted flour وهوwhile it is عجينdough
بدت تنخل المبلول وهو عجين
Like a community's foolish woman who, when she wetted her flour,
Like a foolish woman who grinds her flour,
Was seen sifting the wetted flour, though it was dough.
Then proceeds to sift what is not yet kneaded.
