وصحراءَ رَدَّتها الظِّباءُ حفائراً
بأظلافهاwith their hooves أَحسِنhow lovely بهاthey are (exclamatory) منas حفائرِpits
بأظلافها أَحسِن بها من حفائرِ
And a desert the gazelles turned into pits
The desert, turned inside out by wild does, is more lovely now
with their hooves—how lovely those pits are!
With hollows than when it was all one flat expanse;
فَهَبَّتthen blew رياحٌwinds للصيّاof the east wind (reading uncertain) فطممنهاand they filled them in
فَهَبَّت رياحٌ للصيّا فطممنها
بمسكٍwith musk فعادتso it became نُزهةa delight للنواظرfor the eyes
بمسكٍ فعادت نُزهة للنواظر
Then winds—apparently from the east—blew and filled them
And when the east wind blows here clouds of sand,
with musk, and it became a delight for the eyes.
Sweet resin's fragrance overlays, and makes it fresh again.
