وَقدماً وثقنا كُل فَتقٍ مِنَ الأَمرِ
And of old we refused to let his darkness remain.
And we refused our father to settle in his darkness
And of old we secured every breach in affairs.
And we strengthened every weakness of the matter

And many a defiant man have we stripped of his dignity
And how many unwilling fathers we robbed of will
With our swords, until he dwelt in hardship,
With our swords until he stood firm in hardship

With blows that dislodge heads from their resting places,
With a blow that removes resolve from his dwellings
And thrusts with the tips of straightened, brown spears.
And a stab with the edges of the reddened sword

And before, I gave some of al-Mukhtar's followers drink
And from the followers of al-Mukhtar before we quenched them
With blows upon their heads that undo sorcery.
With blows upon their skulls dispelling sorcery
