ليfor me أَمسyesterday تَهيّأَتbecame ready مِنَfrom الغَيبِthe unseen فتوحblessings
لي أَمس تَهيّأَت مِنَ الغَيبِ فتوح
مِنfrom طَلعَةِthe appearance of شَمسa sun وَصلتنيshe joined me لِصبوحfor morning wine
مِن طَلعَةِ شَمس وَصلتني لِصبوح
Yesterday, blessings from the unseen came my way,
From the appearance of a sun who joined me for morning wine.
لَمdid not أَدرِI know غَداةَat dawn وَدّعتنيshe bade me farewell كالروحlike the soul
لَم أَدرِ غَداةَ وَدّعتني كالروح
مِنfrom أَينَwhere أَتَتنيshe came to me وَإِلىand to أَينَwhere تَروحshe goes
مِن أَينَ أَتَتني وَإِلى أَينَ تَروح
At dawn, when she bade me farewell, I knew not—as with the soul—
Whence she had come to me, and whither she would go.
