ما قيمَةُ ذي العِشقِ وَما قَد مَلَكا

ما قيمَةُ ذي العِشقِ وَما قَد مَلَكا

هَل يَندَم صَبٌّ بَذَلَ الروحَ لَكا

هَل يَندَم صَبٌّ بَذَلَ الروحَ لَكا

What are the lover and all he has possessed worth?

What worth is he who loves, what hath he gained?

Does a lovesick lover regret giving his soul to you?

Shall the long-suffering soul repent it gave itself to thee?

في عِشقِكَ ضَلَّ فرقَةٌ ناجيَةٌ

في عِشقِكَ ضَلَّ فرقَةٌ ناجيَةٌ

وَالهالكُ عَن بَيِّنَةٍ قَد هَلَكا

وَالهالكُ عَن بَيِّنَةٍ قَد هَلَكا

In love for you, a saved sect has gone astray.

In thy love a far-off company was led astray,

And the one who perished has perished upon clear proof.

And he who perished, perished not without sure knowledge.
