هَب أَنّي زُرتُها برغم الواشي
هَلّاwhy not طُويَwas concealed السِرُّthe secret بِرغمin defiance of الواشيthe tale-bearer
هَلّا طُويَ السِرُّ بِرغم الواشي
Suppose I visited her in defiance of the tale-bearer.
Suppose I visited her despite the slanderer
Why was the secret not concealed in defiance of the tale-bearer?
Why not conceal the secret despite the slanderer
مَنwho أَلزمَهاcompelled her اِمتِثالَobedience to حكمthe ruling of الواشيthe tale-bearer
مَن أَلزمَها اِمتِثالَ حكم الواشي
ياO! واخذهاhold her to account اللَهُGod بجرمfor the crime of الواشيthe tale-bearer
يا واخذها اللَهُ بجرم الواشي
Who compelled her to obey the tale-bearer's ruling?
Who obliged her to obey the rule of the slanderer
O, may God hold her to account for the tale-bearer's crime!
Oh may God punish her for the sin of the slanderer
