قالَت أَتَرى غَيرَكَ منّي يَحظى

قالَت أَتَرى غَيرَكَ منّي يَحظى

أَو يُسرِحُ في رَوضِ جَمالي لَحظا

أَو يُسرِحُ في رَوضِ جَمالي لَحظا

She said, “Do you think anyone but you finds favor with me,

She said, "Do you see anyone else gaining

Or lets a glance roam in the garden of my beauty?

My favor or roaming freely through my garden?

ما خُنتُكَ يا مُنايَ غَدراً لَكِن

ما خُنتُكَ يا مُنايَ غَدراً لَكِن

لا تَعرِفُ ما الوَفاء إِلّا لفظا

لا تَعرِفُ ما الوَفاء إِلّا لفظا

I have not treacherously betrayed you, O my heart’s desire, but

I've not betrayed you out of deceit, my beloved,

You know fidelity only as a word.”

But you know not true loyalty, save in name."
