ياO مَنyou who بِلِقائِهِthrough meeting him سُعودُgood fortunes الأَمَلِhope
يا مَن بِلِقائِهِ سُعودُ الأَمَلِ
ماnot أُنجِزَwas fulfilled لَولاهwithout him وعودُpromises الأَمَلِhope
ما أُنجِزَ لَولاه وعودُ الأَمَلِ
O you whose meeting brings hope good fortune,
O you whose meeting brings hope’s joy,
Without him, hope’s promises would not have been fulfilled.
Nothing would be fulfilled without you, hope’s promise.
حاشاfar be it لكfor you مِنfrom عضّbiting ثِمارfruits تُجنىare gathered
حاشا لك مِن عضّ ثِمار تُجنى
إِذsince أَورَقَput forth leaves مِنfrom نَداكyour dew (bounty) عودُbough الأَملِhope
إِذ أَورَقَ مِن نَداك عودُ الأَملِ
Far be it from you to bite fruits that are gathered,
Far be it from you to bite fruits that are plucked
Since the bough of hope has leafed out from your dew.
When from your moisture hope’s sapling leafed.
