O ʿAlw, have faith, for between us is the covenant.
O my hope, between us is the covenant
How often yearnings have loosened the bonds of my patience!
How my longing has untied the ropes of patience
ذاthis الفرعُthe hair وَذاand this العارِضُthe cheek عَنfrom ذكرهماremembering them both

لَم يُخلنيَ العَشيُّ وَالإِشراقُ
These tresses and this cheek—from remembering them
This branch and this visitor turned away from mentioning them
Neither evening nor sunrise has left me free.
Neither the nightfall nor the dawn have left me
