Never was my night’s darkness dispelled by her radiant brow
Never did my night's darkness smile at her radiant brow
but the Sun, jealous of her, began to tremble.
without Dhukāʾ, the sun, trembling with jealousy.

I find my night too short whenever she visits,
I find my night too short during her visit,
if the veil spread over her rival is rent.
if the veil over her co-wife is torn away.
