قَدalready شاعَhas become known صَبابَتيmy passionate longing فَلاso not أَستُرُهاI conceal it
قَد شاعَ صَبابَتي فَلا أَستُرُها
ماwhat ليfor me وَبِهاand with her شُغِفتُI am smitten لاnot أَذكرُهاI mention her
ما لي وَبِها شُغِفتُ لا أَذكرُها
My passionate longing has become known, so I do not conceal it.
My youthful passion has become well known, so I no longer conceal it
Why should I not mention her, when I am smitten with her?
Yet why it consumed me, I no longer recall
هَلwhether أَترُكُI abandon فيضoverflow عبرَتيmy tears أَوor غَزَليmy love poetry
هَل أَترُكُ فيض عبرَتي أَو غَزَلي
لاnot أَنظمI string دُرَّةًa pearl وَلاand not أَنشرُهاI scatter it
لا أَنظم دُرَّةً وَلا أَنشرُها
Shall I abandon the flood of my tears or my love poetry,
Shall I abandon the outpouring of my tears or the unraveling of my heartstrings?
neither stringing a pearl nor scattering it?
I shall weave no pearl necklaces nor scatter them
