إِلّاif not يَكُthere be بَينَناbetween us اِقتِرابُnearness الدارِof the dwelling
إِلّا يَكُ بَينَنا اِقتِرابُ الدارِ
أَوor لَمnot تَرِدِhave arrived الرُواةُthe narrators بِالأَخبارِwith the news
أَو لَم تَرِدِ الرُواةُ بِالأَخبارِ
If our dwellings are not close to one another,
Nothing but the nearness of the abode is between us
Or the narrators have not arrived with news,
Or did not the narrators bring the news
فالنَفسُthen the soul تُناجيكcommunes with you كَماas تعلمهُyou know it
فالنَفسُ تُناجيك كَما تعلمهُ
يَكفيكَsuffices you هَوىًas love تَجاوُبُmutual answering الأَسرارِof secrets
يَكفيكَ هَوىً تَجاوُبُ الأَسرارِ
Then the soul communes with you, as you know;
So the soul converses with you as you know
The mutual answering of secrets is love enough for you.
It suffices you a passion for the secrets to respond
