I kissed a mouth in which, by my life, there was bliss.
I kissed a mouth wherein, for my life, lay bliss
Within it, the pearls of my speech had strung their necklace.
In which the pearls of my speech were well set
فيهِin it رأتِsaw الروحُthe soul مَجالاًroom فَثَوَتand so dwelt
فيهِ رأتِ الروحُ مَجالاً فَثَوَت

Within it, the soul saw room and so dwelt there.
Where my soul saw a wide space and soared aloft
That is, my stay was sweet despite the narrow space.
Oh, how pleasant was my abode despite the narrowness of its strip
