كَمHow often قَدindeed خَتَمتI concluded بِذكريَwith my remembrance الأَسماراevening conversations
كَم قَد خَتَمت بِذكريَ الأَسمارا
كَمHow often شارَفَapproached عودthe bough مُنيتيof my desire الأَثماراthe fruits
كَم شارَفَ عود مُنيتي الأَثمارا
How often I have closed the evening conversations with my remembrance!
How many nights have I spent sleepling thinking of you,
How often the bough of my desire has come close to bearing fruit!
How close has my demise come bearing fruit,
كَمHow often أَلبَسَنيclothed me اللَيلُthe night ثِياباًin garments جُدُداًnew
كَم أَلبَسَني اللَيلُ ثِياباً جُدُداً
فيIn صحبتهاtheir company نضوتُهاI shed them أَطماراas rags
في صحبتها نضوتُها أَطمارا
How often the night has clothed me in new garments!
How many nights has dressed me in new clothes,
In their company, I shed them as rags.
In your company I have enjoyed it to the fullest.
