How lovely, my friend, the north wind that swayed past!
How gentle, O companion, northwards you wandered
Drunken, it had stumbled over its overlong train.
Intoxicated, stumbling on your excessive train

It had an affinity with the soul as it journeyed by night,
Your spirit conforming, when you flowed away
For it served as an envoy between my loved ones and me.
While between my loved ones and me was a journey
