سُبحانَGlory be to مُؤَسِّسfounder of النُهىreason وَالفَهمِand understanding
سُبحانَ مُؤَسِّس النُهى وَالفَهمِ
مرويquencher of غللَburning thirsts النَفسthe soul بِصَوتٍwith a voice يَهميpouring forth
مروي غللَ النَفس بِصَوتٍ يَهمي
Glory be to the founder of reason and understanding,
Glorious is the founder of comprehension and wisdom
who quenches the soul’s burning thirst with a voice that pours forth.
Whose soul soars, murmuring, into realms of the sublime
مَنwhoever حَلَّقَsoared فيin هَواءٍair هُوِّيتِهِHis being
مَن حَلَّقَ في هَواءٍ هُوِّيتِهِ
لَمdid not يَسمُrise إِلَيهِto Him بِجَناحِon the wing of الوَهمِimagination
لَم يَسمُ إِلَيهِ بِجَناحِ الوَهمِ
Whoever soared in the air of His being
Who has winged through the airy space of his identity
did not rise to Him on the wing of imagination.
Without recourse to the pinions of fancy or whim
