قامَتshe rose تَغشىto visit مَضاجِعيmy resting places أَفديهاmay I be her ransom
قامَت تَغشى مَضاجِعي أَفديها
تَسعىshe hastens إِذاwhen نامَsleeps لَيلَةًfor a night واشيهاher talebearer
تَسعى إِذا نامَ لَيلَةً واشيها
She rose to visit my resting places—may I be her ransom—
Hastening when her talebearer sleeps for a night.
ماhow أَطيَبَsweet لَيلَتيmy night وَقَدand indeed فُزتُI succeeded بِهاin winning her
ما أَطيَبَ لَيلَتي وَقَد فُزتُ بِها
لَوif لَمnot أَكُI had خاطَرتُrisked بِروحيwith my life فيهاfor her
لَو لَم أَكُ خاطَرتُ بِروحي فيها
How sweet my night would be, now that I have won her,
Had I not risked my life for her!
