  1. في ضيقِ فم الحَبيب تَجري الكَلِمُ

    هَذا وَخَفيُّ سرِّه مُنكَتِمُ

    Words flow within the beloved’s narrow mouth.

    All this, while his hidden secret remains concealed.

  2. لَكِن أَلِفَ النِزاعَ قَلبي فيهِ

    مَعَ ضيقِ مَجال نُقطَةٍ تَختَصِمُ

    Yet my heart has grown accustomed to strife within it,

    though there is scarcely room for a dot to contend.
