بالروحِwith the soul أُواسيكI console you وَهَلand is there مِنany باسِharm
بالروحِ أُواسيك وَهَل مِن باسِ
إِذsince فُزتُI succeeded بلثمin kissing فيكyour mouth مثلlike الكاسِthe cup
إِذ فُزتُ بلثم فيك مثل الكاسِ
With my soul I console you—and is there any harm,
Since, like the cup, I have won a kiss upon your mouth?
فيin وَجهكyour face قَدindeed ضَحِكتُI smiled كالكأسlike the cup فَقُلso say
في وَجهك قَد ضَحِكتُ كالكأس فَقُل
لِمwhy وَجهَكَyour face قَطَّبتَyou furrowed كَمِثلِlike الحاسيthe drinker
لِم وَجهَكَ قَطَّبتَ كَمِثلِ الحاسي
I have smiled in your face like the cup, so tell me:
Why have you drawn your face into a frown like the drinker?
