ماhow أَحسَنَbeautiful قَولَهاher words غُداةَon the morning of الجَذبِenticement
ما أَحسَنَ قَولَها غُداةَ الجَذبِ
عامِلنيَdeal with me بِالنَقدِin cash صَحيحsound الضَربِthe minting
عامِلنيَ بِالنَقدِ صَحيح الضَربِ
How fine her words on the morning of enticement:
How sweet her words at dawn's first light
“Deal with me in cash, soundly minted;
Pay me true with silver bright
بِالصامِتwith the silent coin لاnot الناطِقَةthe speaking tongue اِستَدعِsummon أُجِبI will answer
بِالصامِت لا الناطِقَة اِستَدعِ أُجِب
بِالرابِحwith the gainful coin ذيpossessing العيارthe standard fineness جُدgive generously لاnot القَلبِthe counterfeit
بِالرابِح ذي العيار جُد لا القَلبِ
Summon me with silent coin, not a speaking tongue, and I will answer;
Silent coin I bid invite
Give generously in gainful coin of proper fineness, not counterfeit.”
