كَماas سامَنيَhe subjected me to الحَبسَimprisonment فَلَمyet did not أَكتَرِثI care
كَما سامَنيَ الحَبسَ فَلَم أَكتَرِث
كَمhow often أَشرَقَhe made me choke بِالماءِwith water فَلَمyet did not أَستَغثِI cry for help
كَم أَشرَقَ بِالماءِ فَلَم أَستَغثِ
As he subjected me to imprisonment, I paid no heed.
As imprisonment gave me pain, yet I was indifferent,
How often he made me choke on water, yet I did not cry for help.
As it glistened in water, yet I did not plead,
كالمِشطِlike a comb مَتىwhenever كَلَّفَنيhe charged me with خدمتَهhis service
كالمِشطِ مَتى كَلَّفَني خدمتَه
بادَرتُI hastened عَلىover الهامthe heads لِلمِّto gather الشَعَثِthe disheveled hair
بادَرتُ عَلى الهام لِلمِّ الشَعَثِ
Like a comb, whenever he bade me serve him,
Like a comb when it demands my service,
I hastened over heads to gather the disheveled hair.
I hastened to obey the command of the disheveled hair.
