ياO وَيحَalas for معنّىًone tormented بِهُمومِby the cares of الهَجرِseparation
يا وَيحَ معنّىً بِهُمومِ الهَجرِ
مبدٍshowing لكto you تأثيرَthe effect of سُمومِthe poisons of الهَجرِseparation
مبدٍ لك تأثيرَ سُمومِ الهَجرِ
Alas for one tormented by the cares of separation,
Oh agony, what meaning through the grief of separation
Showing you the effect of separation's poisons.
None for you has the influence of separation's venom
لَوif أَنشَقهmade him inhale رائحةَthe fragrance of الوَصلِreunion صَباan east wind
لَو أَنشَقه رائحةَ الوَصلِ صَبا
لاهتافَwould exult بِهِin it لَفحَthe scorching blast of سَمومِthe hot wind of الهَجرِseparation
لاهتافَ بِهِ لَفحَ سَمومِ الهَجرِ
Were an east wind to make him inhale reunion's fragrance,
If the fragrance of union had split it, morning breeze
The scorching blast of separation's hot wind would exult in it.
It would have shouted with joy from separation's venom
