Beware of drawing near, amid the crowd,
Beware of mingling amidst the throng
to one whose heart burns and whose tears pour forth.
Of those inflamed with passion, tears that pour

Do not become wretched through nearness to one perishing and sorely tried;
Draw not near one self-slain, sore tried
how many a moth has fallen in the candle's blaze!
How many a moth by candle flame no more
