The rose shows you the cheek of a drunkard;
The rose shows you a drunkard’s cheek.
With its mouth full, it grows vain like a drunkard.
It grows vain, full-mouthed like a drunkard.
لِلجَنَّةِfor Paradise لاnot النارِthe Fire أَراهI deem it أَهلاًworthy
لِلجَنَّةِ لا النارِ أَراه أَهلاً
مَعwith رائِحَةthe scent of الخُلدِeternity وَوجهِand the face of الحورِthe houris
مَع رائِحَة الخُلدِ وَوجهِ الحورِ
Worthy of Paradise, not Hell, I deem it—
I deem it worthy of Paradise, not the Fire,
With the fragrance of eternity and the face of a houri.
With the scent of eternity and the face of the houris.
